South Carolina State Transport Police Employment Information
State Transport
Police officers receive some of the most specialized training in law
enforcement on state and federal laws regulating motor carriers and use
some of the most sophisticated technology available. If you would like to
be part of this elite group of men and women, you may be just the person
we are looking for to strengthen our presence on South Carolina’s
highways. To be a State Transport Police officer, you must:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Be a United States citizen
- Have a high school diploma or G.E.D
- Have a proportionate weight and height
- Have normal 20/20 vision with glasses, or not more than 20/100 in either
eye corrected to 20/20
- Possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license with a good driving record
- Not have a criminal record
- Driving record should be clear of any suspensions for the last five years
as a result of alcoholic beverage, dangerous drug violation, or leaving
the scene of an accident. The overall driving record will be evaluated
placing emphasis on the severity, date, and age, time span, and number of
violations accumulated.
- Must be able to perform all of the essential and marginal job functions of
a State Transport Police officer.
